Resources, useful links and publications

There are many useful resources which can help teachers and support staff meet the learning and emotional health and well-being needs of EAL, GRT, asylum and refugee children.

These resources can include:

  • Documents, guidance and research to improve senior leaders, managers, and teachers' knowledge of ethnic minority best practice and influence provision mapping and the whole school ethos
  • Resources to display around the school and in the classroom to enhance the environment and make it more ethnic minority friendly
  • Teaching and learning resources to use in the classroom and in small groups with English as an additional language learners to improve the acquisition of the English language
  • Culturally specific resources to increase the awareness of diversity and to help all children feel valued

There are many good websites and apps now available which can help schools communicate more effectively with ethnic minority families and particularly those children and families whose first language is not English.
