Can I plant trees or flowers in council parks or greenspaces?

Please do not plant trees or plants in council parks or open spaces without contacting the Salford City Council park department. This is to preserve biosecurity on our land.

Salford City Council procures live plants from reputable businesses who adhere to the Government plant biosecurity strategy to protect against the introduction of plant pathogens or pests. Some council parks are managed for native wildlife, planting without consent could jeopardise management plans for each site.

The council often works with community groups to enhance the aesthetic and biodiversity value in our parks. Please email our parks team using parks@salford.gov.uk to discuss your planting ideas.
