Statement of Reasons

City of Salford (Pennington Street / Manchester Road, Walkden) (Prohibition Of Waiting) Order 2024

Pennington Street is a relatively narrow street giving access to a residential area.
As the access is narrow, it is essential that the area around the junction is  kept clear of inconsiderate and obstructive parking. To protect access for all vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians and also maintain a safe level of visibility for all road users.

As such it is proposed to introduce No Waiting At Any Time Restrictions on Pennington Street, on both sides for its junction with Manchester Road.

We are also proposing some restriction on Manchester Road, to protect sight lined for those exiting this junction. So that a safe access and egress is maintained for vehicles and pedestrians can cross the road unhindered by parked vehicles and can see and be seen by approaching vehicles.
