Statement of Reasons

City of Salford (Kerrera Drive - Weaste And Seedley, Salford) (Prohibition of Waiting) Order 2024

City of Salford (Kerrera Drive Area - Weaste And Seedley, Salford) (Provision of 20mph Speed Limit Various Street) Order 2024

Following the building of a new residential development on the former St Luke’s Primary School off Eccles new road in the Weaste and Seedley area of Salford, it has been deemed necessary to review the waiting and loading restrictions in the area, to ensure the new development is able to be accessed and serviced safely and ensure the safety of all highway users.

As there are several new accesses in to the proposed residential area, it will be necessary to protect those entrances to allow safe access and egress for service and emergency vehicles maintaining sight lines and visibility splays.

It was also proposed that as the area was all residential in nature, it would be an appropriate time to change the 30mph speed limit of these streets to 20mph, in line with governments initiative to make all residential areas 20mph.

The proposals will also protect pedestrian crossing points and maintain forward visibility, for both drivers and pedestrians. In addition they will also help ensure access for all vehicles is maintained, including emergency and service vehicles who could otherwise be obstructed / prevented from gaining access, if vehicles are parked on or close to junctions and bends, restricting access especially for larger vehicles.
