Statement of Reasons

The City of Salford (Hopefold Drive and The Reach, Walkden) (20mph Speed Limit Area) Order 2024

There have been complaints about the speed of traffic on the southern section of the above-mentioned estate. Following an inspection of the estate it was concluded that the existing 30mph speed was not appropriate for the area especially with the area having shared surfaces.

As such, it has been proposed that the area be made 20mph. Which  is a design recommendation for most residential estates, but more so those with shared surfaces.
The proposals are required to ensure drivers travel at an appropriate speed for the type and use of the roads in question, thus ensuring as far as possible highway safety.

In this instance a residential area with shared surface for pedestrians and vehicles.
