Jollofqueenn intends to operate as a fully licensed caf located in Eccles, Manchester, offering a diverse menu of sandwiches, baguettes, Jollof rice, and other delicious delicacies. Owned by Jollof Festival UK Ltd, the caf will provide a safe and enjoyable space for relaxation and entertainment, making it the perfect spot to unwind and savour fantastic food. We also intend to play music and offer dance lessons on the premises.

The prevention of crime and disorder

To promote the licensing objective of "The prevention of crime and disorder" at Jollofqueenn caf, the following steps will be taken:

Staff Training and Awareness:

Comprehensive training and Robust induction for all staff and volunteers:

All staff members will undergo thorough training on managing and preventing crime and disorder.

This includes training on identifying and handling potentially disruptive behaviour, understanding the licensing laws, and effectively using conflict resolution techniques.

Regular Updates: Continuous education and updates on local laws and regulations will be provided to ensure all staff are well-informed and compliant with current best practices.

Public safety

CCTV Installation: High-definition CCTV cameras will be installed both inside and outside the premises. These cameras will cover all key areas, including entrances, exits, dining areas, and the bar, ensuring comprehensive surveillance.

Security Personnel: During peak hours and special events, licensed security personnel will be present to monitor the premises and handle any incidents promptly and professionally. We are presently in consultation with Kingdom security personnel to provide door supervisors for all our events.

Our CEO Olufunmilayo is also SIA qualified and will implement all safety arrangements of the premises.

Strategic Layout: The caf will be designed with clear sightlines and well-lit areas to deter criminal activities. The layout will ensure that staff can easily observe all parts of the caf.

Located in the heart of Eccles town centre, this specific unit is behind the library and the front door is visible to the main road.

Controlled Entry: Implementing a policy of controlled entry during busy times or events to monitor and manage the flow of patrons. This includes checking IDs and conducting bag checks if necessary. Collaboration with Local Authorities: Regular Communication: Establishing a good relationship with local police and licensing authorities.

Regular meetings and communication will be maintained to discuss any concerns and get advice on best practices.

Participation in Local Schemes: Jollofqueenn will be joining local crime prevention initiatives and schemes such as Pub watch, which facilitate information sharing and mutual support among local businesses in the Eccles and Salford area.

The prevention of public nuisance

The Prevention of Public Nuisance Noise Control:

Soundproofing: Install soundproofing materials in the caf to minimize noise leakage.

Volume Management: Control the volume of music and other entertainment, especially during evening hours, to avoid disturbing neighbors.

Waste Management: Regular Disposal: Implement a strict schedule for waste collection and disposal to prevent littering and foul odors.

Recycling Initiatives: Encourage recycling and proper waste segregation to minimize environmental impact.

Outdoor Areas: Designated Smoking Area: Provide a designated smoking area away from main entrances and residential properties to minimize smoke nuisance.

Patron Management: Ensure patrons do not loiter outside the premises, especially late at night, to prevent noise and disruption.

Deliveries and Collections: Scheduled Deliveries: Schedule deliveries and waste collections during non-peak hours to reduce traffic and noise disturbances. We will also be conducting inductions and trainings so all staff are aware on how to implement these services effectively.

The protection of children from harm

JollofQueenn will ensure ID Checks are carried out and also implement a strict ID checking policy to prevent underage drinking.

Use reliable age verification tools and train staff thoroughly.

Challenge 25 Policy: Adopt and promote the "Challenge 25" policy, encouraging staff to ask for ID from anyone who looks under 25.

Child-Friendly Environment:

Safe Areas: Designate specific areas within the caf that are child-friendly, ensuring they are free from hazards and bias. As earlier indicated, families are welcome for a meal ,but will be advised to depart the caf at 8pm to comply with licensing requirements and protect children and young people from harm and abuse.

Appropriate Content: Ensure that all music, TV, and promotional materials are appropriate for children.

Staff Training: Safeguarding Training: Provide training for staff on safeguarding children, including recognizing and responding to signs of harm or abuse.

First Aid: Ensure that staff are trained in basic first aid, including dealing with emergencies involving children.

Clear Policies and Procedures:

Family Policies: Develop and display clear policies on family-friendly practices, including the supervision of children and prohibiting the consumption of alcohol by minors.

All training will be delivered onsite by our partner business Twilight Therapy and Training Solutions Ltd.

Incident Reporting: Maintain an incident log for any issues involving children, reviewing it regularly to enhance child protection measures.
