Selective Licensing proposal in Broughton and Kersal

Selective Licensing requires landlords who privately rent properties to obtain a licence from the council. If granted, a licence will be issued with a number of conditions which the landlord must comply with.

Prior to designating an area for selective licensing, the council is required by law to consult with people, businesses and organisations who are likely to be affected by the proposals and consider any views fully, before making a decision.

Parts of Broughton and Kersal had a selective licensing scheme from 2016 to 2021 and approval was given to consult on a further scheme for this same area on Tuesday 9 July. However, this decision has been ‘called-in’ so the consultation is currently on hold. Further details will be posted on this web page as soon as they become available.
